Fantastic App and Excellent Support !!!!!!

Fantastic App and very useful for former user of Bento. Easy import from databases of Bento and good structure and optic/layout for working. The support is fantastic and very friendly! Carry on like this and thank you.

Right: fantastic app and excellent support

BookPedia is really outstanding in various respects: many interfaces, open architecture, excellent support.

Excellent!!

This app is fabulous! Comparitively, Bookpedia loaded efficiently and did not waste any of my precious (or limited) time or brain-matter: Bookpedia is delivering more than I dreamed possible: It is a smooth, impressive application and is a must-have for any bibliophile. I also wish to say that the Bruji Support proved to be solid and responsive when I was still shopping. I tried the demo, first and immediately bought the app! Thank-you!

Excellent app

Much more flexible than its more-famous competitor, Delicious Library, this is highly recommended. The developers are really responsive, updates are frequent, and there is real and useful discussion and conversation on the user forums. I use the software to keep track of the books in my office (one collection in the software to represent each bookcase), and to make collections of the books I want to buy, and of books I use in my classes. For example, I have one collection, exported to a website, of all versions of Cinderella. The software allows infinite collections and sub-collections, and selective exporting to any number of websites.

can not execute

i could not execute this app on 10.6.8. Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libcurl.4.dylib Referenced from: /Applications/Bookpedia.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/Pediabase.framework/Versions/A/Pediabase Reason: Incompatible library version: Pediabase requires version 7.0.0 or later, but libcurl.4.dylib provides version 6.0.0

Good program, but....

it work only on my MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, on iMAC, the iSight cannot focus on the barcode. Very fast in searching the books, sometimes i must search manually. Good program, 4 stars, hoping in future updates.

FaceTime HD cameras update?????

The barcode scanner does not work with FaceTime HD cameras.

Great app!

I have been using this app for one year and I am well satisfied with it. There is only one thing I feel the necessity of, namely the possibility of having an integration with iCal for books to be returned. It would save me a lot of time.

My New Favorite App

I entered about 500 books. I was able to scan the UPC code on all but 40 books and easily added those remaining 40 manually. Based on the genre field I was able to create smart collections for my biographies, history, philosophy, literature, business, poetry etc... I created other smart collections based on publishers (Oxford, Folio Society, Library of America etc..) Then I added the summary field to the default columns so that I am able to search with keywords, drawing from the titles, authors, book summaries and even my own notes. Which brings me to the one suggestion that I have for the developers. Being able to search your own notes/comments is such a superb feature, SHOWCASE IT. Put a field to enter notes on the front page. This ability effectively allows you to create your own personal, custom SYNTROPICON!! That’s amazing. LOVE THIS APP!

Good application, very flexible

This is a good application. My wife and I just moved 700 books into a couple of different Bookpedia libraries quickly and efficently using a barcode scanner. Lots of flexibility including ten custom renamable fields, several different views with customizable column order, collections and smart collections to group books in a variety of ways, good search and sorting capabilities. I added a Cuisine field for cookbooks, then was able to select individually a couple of dozen cookbooks from a collection of 500 and set their Cuisine column to "Mexican" in one step. Again, seems to be a very flexible application. The database is in Sqlite so I was also able to extract some data, manipulate it in a particular way and put it back (not something everyone could do or would want to do, but I was happy it could be done). The developer is very responsive both on their forum and in response to support emails. We were moving from BookCat on Windows and are very happy with Bookpedia (and have also now purchased their DVDpedia app).

Love this app!

Top notch! Use it to log all my books... Ive used other apps (Bookcrawler), and they just dont compare. Would love to see Conor Dearden expand the app to include a way to calculate the overall worth of your library and more formats to download in (like a power point of all the book covers - that would be HOT). If youre looking for a great app to log your personal library, look no further!

All around fantastic app!

This was exactly what I was looking for. An easy to use way to build a virtual library to keep track of my books.

Bookpedia

I have only used it for a couple of hours and it seems to do what I want. However, the program went belly-up on me and I lost at least a half hour of work and at least thirty titles. Why doesnt the program put each entry in the database immediately? Or, at least provide a save option. Now, I have to figure out where to start again.

Really great (especially for the price), with great customer service

Ive been using this for awhile, and have gotten through cataloging a little over 1,000 books (about half of my library) and this program has handled the job very well. Have had a couple of bumps in the road, but the customer support has been personal and very fast (minutes, in one case, to fix a problem). This does exactly what I need it to do, and a little bit more as well, and I recommend it thoroughly.

best book app yet!

Im an avid book collector and have been through countless book collecting apps before finally finding bookpedia and Im definitely going to stick with this one for awhile. Very straightforward and easy to use interface yet has a TON of different options for organizing with custom fields etc. Bibliophiles who need to sort and keep track of their books definitely need this app.

amazing!

I just got this app, and as a teen bookworm, i certainly needed it to keep track of all my books. My collection of over 300 books was starting to overwhelm me, and i was afraid if i didnt catalog them soon, i would lose some of them. so i went looking for a book catalogging app. love this one! simple, works great, just what i need :)

Bookpedia needs some work

I love Bookpedia; however, it needs some work. If the books are not in the system (such as coming soon books) then you cant get that book information. They need to be change that. Other than that I like it.

Good stuff here...

After searching out and comparing features and prices of several similar apps, I decided to give Bookpedia a shot. It seemed to offer a good combination of features and ease of use that were just right for my needs. Also, the developer appears to be committed to improving and enhancing the product in the future, which means a lot to me as well. After spending a week or two learning my way around the app and entering my data, I’ve grown increasingly impressed with what Bookpedia does - and how well it does it. The look and feel are very iTunes-like, and very Mac-like. So I felt an instant familiarity working with it. The online book-search feature worked well enough, though at times I found myself editing a lot of what it auto-entered. So I decided on entering the data manually. Mostly for the sake of the accuracy that I personally wanted for each record. It was a bit more time-consuming, but if I’m gonna make the effort I want to get it right. The beauty part about Bookpedia is that it enabled me to easily create those records to be as accurate as I wanted, and enter the exact info that I wanted for each record. The app is very flexible and very customizable, and for an added bonus - everything comes out looking really great. I recommend this app for any avid reader, book fan, or collector that’s serious about their hobby. The added features of ‘wish lists’, ‘borrow lists’, customizable ‘smart lists’, and customizable data views adds even more to a very enjoyable experience. Plus, there are other templates, plug-ins, and additional tweak downloads available on the website. And their companion iPhone app is next on my list... Well done Bruji!

review update

In my previous review I had pointed to a glitch in bookpedia, where books in the grid view bring up information of a different book. In the meantime I have contacted Bookpedia, got immediate response and they are working to solve it. I also criticized that column headings could not be customized. I learned that they can. To customize the column headings, go to Preference -- Fields. In the fields window, double-click on the heading and change it. I will now happily give this software five stars.

Love

I really love this app. It helps me out so much, especially because my library is constantly growing, however, there is a daily limit which you can exceed. Which gets quite annying. Otherwise, I love this app. But please fix this.
